Homemade Elderberry Syrup Gummies for Winter Wellness
As we settle into the cold winter months, I am always looking to boost my family’s immune systems with simple, natural remedies. One of our favorite remedies is these homemade elderberry syrup gummies, a real-food remedy that is effective and easy to make.
These homemade elderberry syrup gummies are a fun and practical alternative to elderberry syrup and kids especially love them!
What is elderberry?
Elderberry comes from the berries of the Sambucus tree and has been used for centuries in traditional wellness practices.
Because elderberries naturally contain antioxidants, vitamin C, and flavonoids to support the body’s natural defense system, they are commonly used today for supporting immune health, especially in winter months.
Every winter I make multiple batches of elderberry syrup. It is my go-to remedy to prevent illness an also the first thing I reach for when we start to feel sick. Elderberries cooked and made into syrup, become a nourishing seasonal wellness tool.

Benefits of Elderberry Syrup Gummies
1. Supports Immune Health
One of the main benefits of elderberry syrup gummies is their ability to support immune function. Elderberry is often used during times of increased seasonal exposure and is especially popular during fall and winter. Taking elderberry consistently can help support the body’s natural response to seasonal challenges.
2. Easy and Enjoyable to Take
Elderberry gummies are kid-friendly, less messy than liquid syrup, and easy to portion out. This makes elderberry gummies an easy daily habit for the whole family, which is key when it comes to consistency.
3. Made with Simple, Real Ingredients
Homemade elderberry syrup gummies contain simple, real-food ingredients like elderberry syrup, gelatin, and honey. Making them at home allows you to avoid artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives found in many store-bought immune gummies.
4. Supports Overall Winter Wellness
Winter wellness isn’t just about avoiding illness, it’s also about supporting the body through darker days, colder weather, and disrupted routines. Elderberry gummies pair well with other supportive habits like eating whole, nourishing foods, staying hydrated, and prioritizing rest and gentle movement.
Why elderberry gummies are especially helpful in winter
Winter tends to place extra stress on the immune system: we are inside more, getting less sunshine, and often consuming more sugar. Many families choose elderberry for winter wellness because it’s traditionally used during cold and flu season as a means of daily immune support and extra support for times of acute illness.
Because gummies are easy to take, they help make elderberry a consistent part of a winter rhythm.

Why We Prefer Homemade Elderberry Syrup Gummies
We’ve used elderberry syrup in our home for a long time and love its simple effectiveness in supporting our immune systems. Making elderberry gummies is a fun way for kids to consume the elderberry and get the nutritional benefits, especially for kids more hesitant to take liquid supplements.
Making elderberry syrup gummies at home allows us to avoid artificial dyes and added sugars and fillers, while making immune support feel approachable and sustainable. They are also much cheaper than the store-bought versions.
Homemade elderberry gummies store well in the refrigerator and feel like a treat, fitting seamlessly into an intentional wellness lifestyle.
The process of making elderberry syrup gummies
Start by making an elderberry syrup or use a store-bought prepared syrup. You can add honey to sweeten to taste, if you desire. You’ll gently warm the syrup over low heat and stir in the gelatin until it dissolves. Transfer to silicone molds immediately using a small dropper or syringe. Allow to fully cool and pop the gummies out into a glass container. If you are having trouble getting the gummies out of the molds without breaking, pop the mold into the fridge for 30 minutes or so to help them firm up a bit.

Safety note about elderberry
Elderberries should always be cooked before consumption, as raw elderberries can cause digestive upset. If you are pregnant, nursing, or managing a medical condition, consult a trusted healthcare provider before using elderberry regularly.
Elderberry gummies are intended to support wellness, not replace medical care.
