Thanks for stopping by my little house
When I graduated from college with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and no prospect of getting married in sight, I began my nursing career and fell in love with the work, planning to remain single and spend my life taking care of people.
God writes beautiful stories though and in His timing and goodness, He brought along the man of my dreams – through a medical missions trip!
When I moved across the country to a small rental home on the Kansas prairie, I was suddenly faced with the challenge of making this house into a home and I wondered, what did that look like?
More than just finding my decor style or learning to be content with orange counters (true story!), I wanted this to feel like home. I wanted to create a space of beauty and welcome; a place of peace and refuge from the cares of the world; a place where all who enter would see the goodness and love of God on display.
Out of necessity, I learned to cook from scratch. I began making sourdough bread, growing a garden, and learning about natural remedies.
Over time, God graciously added a precious little girl to our family and began to work in my heart the desire to stay home with her and homeschool – and He has fulfilled that dream.
I love creating a cozy, welcoming home for my family. I want my children to remember homemade meals shared at the table, soft candlelight and music, shared picture books and conversation and laughing together. I want home to be a place where my husband and children feel safe and know with certainty that God is good.
Whether you live in the house of your dreams or a tiny rental, I hope that this blog encourages and inspires you to create a beautiful and life-giving home for your family.
I hope to share simple, from-scratch recipes, natural wellness, budget friendly decor, and a little motherhood and homemaking inspiration along the way.
I pray that this little corner of the internet encourages you to find beauty in the mundane moments of your day and inspires you to flourish in every season.
