Flaky Baking Powder Biscuits

These flaky baking powder biscuits come together quickly and are absolutely delicious on their own or with sausage gravy.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup milk

Method
 

  1. In a medium glass mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cut or grate in butter and work in with pastry blender.
  3. Make a well in the center and add egg and milk. Stir together until dough comes together.
  4. Turn out onto the coutner and knead several times until smooth.
  5. Pat out into a circle, about 1/2 inch thick.
  6. Using a 3 inch biscuit cutter or glass, cut out biscuits and place on tray.
  7. Bake at 400 for 17-20 minutes or until golden brown.
