Easy Sausage Gravy From Scratch

This rich and creamy sausage gravy comes together quickly for the ultimate heart and filling breakfast or supper.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Sausage (pork or venison)
  • 1/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 2-1/2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup chicken broth (optional, but adds depth)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method
 

  1. Brown the sausage in a heavy bottom skillet.
  2. When the meat is cooked thorugh, sprinkle with flour and stir for 1-2 minutes until flour is incorporated.
  3. Slowly pour in chicken broth and milk, stirring constantly.
  4. Reduce heat and continue to stir until milk and broth begin to steam and gravy thickens.
  5. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Serve immediately over biscuits.

Notes

Adding chicken broth adds a depth to the flavor, but you can substitute milk for the broth, if needed.
