Ingredients
Method
- Mix water, yeast, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Slowly mix in flour. It will be a very wet dough, resist the urge to add more flour. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and allow it to rise for 1-2 hours or until double.
- Preheat oven to 500 degrees. Place stone in the oven to preheat about 20 minutes before you're ready to bake your pizza.
- Place a sheet or parchment paper on your counter and sprinkle it with flour, cornmeal, salt, and oregano. Dump the dough from the bowl onto the parchment paper and press out into desired shape and thickness, approximately a 10-inch wide circle.
- Add your favorite sauce to the crust.
- Add cheese, followed by toppings. Sprinkle additional parmesan cheese, oregano, and red pepper flakes on top.
- Slide parchment paper onto preheated stone and place back into the oven.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, decreasing oven temp to 450 degrees, if needed to allow for thorough cooking.
- While pizza is baking, melt 2 TB butter in a small bowl. Add 2-3 cloves of crushed garlic and and 1/2 tsp of parsley. Brush on crust immediately after removing from the oven.
- Slice and serve hot.
Notes
If you are not using a pizza stone, you will want to preheat your oven to 450 degrees and place your pizza directly on the baking sheet and into the oven. Do NOT preheat the metal baking pan. Baking time may be a little longer.
